Why Brave Paths

Meet Aaron

Each day, we are witness to a social climate that surrounds us in fear and uncertainty. These negative effects are especially hard on those facing challenges with anxiety, depression, grief, job stress, trauma, or situational life crisis. If you are feeling overwhelmed in any of these areas, the first step to healing is asking for help. Support is there. It is my belief that we all have the inherent ability to foster change within us. It is my privilege to assist you with cultivating tools to use on a journey of emotional/ spiritual growth.

As an LPC, I have spent the past 15 years treating clients (children, teens, adults) in a variety of treatment settings: TeleHealth, Day Treatment, School-Based, and Outpatient settings. I have completed TF-CBT and EMDR training for trauma treatment of individuals and first responders. Additional interventions: CBT, DBT, Brief-Solution Focused Treatment.

Making changes in your mental health may be difficult, but it is not impossible. It is brave, powerful, awe inspiring, and if maintained can lead you to a path where purpose and joy can be found. It is my hope that I can help with assisting this change by promoting improved insight, fostering self-empowerment, and supporting willingness to change.

Frequently Asked Questions

What therapy approaches do you use, and how do I know which is right for me?

I utilize several evidence-based approaches including EMDR, TF-CBT, CBT, DBT, and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy. During our initial sessions, we’ll discuss what you’re experiencing and your goals, and I’ll recommend the approach that best fits your needs. You don’t need to know which modality you need before starting—that’s part of what we’ll figure out together.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is particularly effective for processing trauma and distressing memories. If you’re struggling with past traumatic events, PTSD, or memories that feel “stuck,” EMDR can help your brain reprocess these experiences in a way that reduces their emotional impact. I’m specially trained in EMDR for both civilians and first responders.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It’s especially helpful for anxiety and depression, teaching practical skills to identify and change unhelpful thought patterns. It’s structured, goal-oriented, and provides tools you can use independently after therapy ends.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) teaches skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. It’s particularly helpful if you experience intense emotions, difficulty managing stress, or challenges in relationships.

This approach focuses on your strengths and what’s already working, rather than dwelling on problems. It’s ideal if you’re dealing with a specific situation or crisis and want practical, goal-oriented support in a shorter timeframe.

What happens in the first session?

Our first session is about getting to know each other and understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll discuss what you’re experiencing, your goals, and any immediate concerns. I’ll ask questions about your history, current symptoms, and what you hope to achieve. This assessment helps me recommend the best approach for your unique situation. There’s no pressure—this is your time to see if we’re a good fit.

This varies based on your needs and goals. Some clients find relief with brief, solution-focused work over a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support. We’ll regularly check in about your progress and adjust as needed. You’re always in control of the pace.

Yes, I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions to provide flexibility and accessibility based on your preferences and needs.

I work with children, teens, and adults, tailoring my approach to each developmental stage and individual needs.

I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, job stress, trauma, and situational life crises. If you’re feeling overwhelmed in any of these areas, I’m here to help.
